Uber and Lyft are inexpensive and easily accessible in the Boston area.
If you are driving to Tufts for the conference, the most convenient parking is in the Dowling Hall Garage, located at 419 Boston Avenue, Medford. The parking rate is $8.00 per day and can be purchased only with credit or debit cards.
If you'd like to explore Boston, we recommend using public transportation. The Red Line of the MBTA (colloquially called "The T") has a stop at Davis Square, a 15 minute walk from campus, and can take you to Park Street Station, the city center, in 15-20 minutes.
The easiest way to get from Logan to points in the Boston area is by Uber, Lyft, or taxi. It's about a 20-25 minute drive from the airport to the Tufts campus, and costs about $23.
You can also take the subway (the MBTA) from Logan. To get to Davis Square (a 15 minute walk to campus), take either:
The SL1 Silver Line (which is a bus) to South Station, and then change to the red line in the direction of Alewife. The trip takes 50-60 minutes, and costs $2.75.
Or, the airport shuttle to the subway station, the blue line in the direction of Bowdoin to State Street, walk 5 minutes to Downtown Crossing, then take the red line in the direction of Alewife. This also takes 50-60 minutes and costs $2.75.
The easiest way to use the MBTA is to buy a CharlieTicket (thick paper with a magnetic stripe), which you can load with money. You can get it from vending machines at any MBTA station. If you're planning to take a lot of trips, you can also get a plastic CharlieCard, which saves $0.50 per trip. Ask an agent in an MBTA station where to get one.
